QUEST Vocation Promoters' Training Programme

A Vocation Promoters' Training Programme is being organized, especially for all Vocation Promoters of various Religious Congregations who work in the Archdiocese of Bombay.

The details about the same are as follows:
Date: Thursday, January 10, 2019
Time: 9 am to 1 pm (inclusive of lunch)
Venue: Our Lady of Salvation Church Hall, Dadar
Theme: Young People, The Faith and Vocation Discernment.
 Robert Pen, SDB will be the main resource person addressing the programme.

Contemplative Prayer: Christian Meditation Programme

As part of situating our daily practice of meditation within the Christian Contemplative tradition, the WCCM Mumbai meditation community invites you to a half-day programme of discourses and meditation. The programme will be led by Fr Lance Prabhu, SJ, on the distinguishing features of Christian Contemplation, particularly as a way of knowing through love, methods and practices as preparatory aids, and he will especially dwell on dealing with the wandering mind. This programme is scheduled on Saturday, December 8, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon, at the Retreat House, Bandra. There is no charge, but a voluntary contribution to meet the incidental expenses will be gratefully accepted. Cantata Choir carol concerts

The Cantata Choir, conducted by Olga Collaco, will present 'An evening of Christmas Carols' at Our Lady of Dolours Church, Wadala (West) on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at 7:30 pm and at St Joseph RC church, Navy Nagar, Colaba on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at 7:30 pm. The programme will include traditional and modern Christmas Carols. The soloists are Natasha Collaco, Soprano and Kersi Gazdar, Tenor. The Choir will be accompanied by Marilynne Chhabra (Pianoforte and Percussion) and Natasha Collaco (Pianoforte).

The programme duration will be 45 minutes. Admission is free. All are welcome.

Christmas Music Concert

Navjeet Community Health Centre of Holy Family Hospital is presenting a Christmas Music Concert, produced by Felix Flor, on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 7:30 pm at St Andrew's Auditorium, in aid of their ongoing charitable projects.

Compered by Shahriyar Atai, the concert will feature leading choral groups Santacruz Ensemble, Faith and Harmony, Victory Chorus Line, a capella group Pitch Blend and soloists Ella Atai, Shahriyar Atai, Siddarth Meghani, James Miranda, Marie Paul, Zenaida Fernandes, Denver Rocha, Dr Margaret Miranda and others.

SRA General Chapter 2018

The Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of the Queen of the Apostles (SRA) held its 10th Ordinary General Chapter at Stella Maris Provincialate, Uttan, Bombay from October 1-16, 2018. Responding to the Church's call and signs of the times, the General Chapter reflected on the theme "SRA: Missionary Disciples of Compassion and Joy at the Service of the Gospel". The Chapter was inaugurated by Dr Dominic Savio, Auxiliary Bishop of Bombay.

During the sessions, Sr Nanditha Pereira was elected as the 9th Superior General of the Congregation for the second term. The Chapter also elected the General Councillors - Sr Zeena D'Souza, Sr Eva-Maria Kremshuber, Sr Vincentia Mammootil and Sr Annie D'Souza.

The General Chapter dwelt on the theme and arrived at vital recommendations to facilitate the Congregation to reinvigorate its mission to the times and context. Archbishop Dr Felix Machado, Bishop of Vasai, addressed the General Chapter on the topic: 'Proclamation of the Gospel in today's context'. The concluding Eucharist was officiated by Dr Elias Gonsalves, Bishop of Amravati. Fr Lisbert D'Souza SJ was the moderator, and 50 members representing SRA mission the world over participated in the GC 2018.

Children's Day at Shelter Don Bosco

Shelter Don Bosco Wadala celebrated Children's Day on a grand scale on November 11 with the theme 'Be a light'. 400 participants from varied Youth at Risk (YaR) centres across Mumbai attended the celebration. They included youth, staff, volunteers, priests, benefactors, and other guests.

The children were given a scorecard for playing different games that were arranged in 14 stalls. Besides the game stalls, hair colouring, face painting, tattoos, and sheet colouring activities were also held.

After the games, the inauguration function began at 11 am. It included a welcome song, dance, a welcome message by Fr Gregory D'Almeida, Director of Shelter and an address by the Guest of Honour, Guru Gaurav Sharma, an acclaimed martial arts exponent, and also India's first Spiderman, a title he earned for his reputation for climbing skyscrapers.

A drama on the theme followed; it urged the youth to find their hidden talent, mould and nurture it. After the inauguration programme, the children danced to the tunes of the latest Bollywood songs that were played all day. Lunch was served at 1:15 pm.

After lunch, the children had a talent competition, wherein they displayed their singing and dancing talent in group and solo performances. This was followed by a cultural programme, in which children presented different performances, based on different cultures and traditions, giving out a social message of unity in diversity.

The vote of thanks was proposed by Deacon Rudolf D'Souza, followed by a prize distribution ceremony.
