Bible Sunday at St Teresa's, Girgaum

The buzz started about three weeks earlier. Communities went into a huddle, first selecting their teams and then preparing them. Whatsapp messages and phone calls were flying to and fro, with church notices announcing the event.

The great day dawned, and five teams, backed by the parishioners, assembled in the parish school hall, with colourful scripture-related posters adorning the walls. The Quiz, masterfully conducted by veteran Quiz Master, Mr Lawrence Sahyadass, was spread over seven rounds, viz. the 'True or False' round, 'Name the Places', 'Who said to Whom', Scrambled words, 'Numbers', 'Person's Names' and answering questions from chosen subjects. This was followed by a creative Bible Housie.

Organised by our dynamic Parish Priest, Fr Anthony Fernandes, along with the Youth Team led by Steffi and the Bible Cell led by Paul, the event was preceded by the enthronement of the Bible, followed by a special Mass with selected Bible-related hymns, at which Ministry of the Word members were blessed and re-commissioned. Fr Gregory Lobo inaugurated the Quiz, while Fr Nicholas Dias gave words of encouragement and told us how a Bible Quiz enriches and encourages us to read the Bible, and grow in our knowledge of faith.

Scavanza at OLPS, Chembur

Lights, Music, Action! That was the clarion call of the Silver Liners on February 3, 2018, and no less than 175 seniors and yet-to-be-seniors answered that call with chutzpah, as they danced the night and their hearts away at the zesty fest SCAVANZA.

With the soul-stirring and foot-tapping music of the priests' band led by Fr Alban, accompanied by the melodious voice of Melody, it was melody all the way! It was truly amazing to see the dancing skills of young and old alike: waltzing, fox-trotting, jiving, salsa-ing and generally shaking a hip and a leg in gay abandon. OLPS parish can safely claim to have some of the most energy-charged senior citizens in the world!

The evening which started on the right foot with the now legendary SCAVANZA march, led by Noreen Vincent, scaled new heights, as the night advanced. There were some exciting spot prizes and a fun quiz called Twisters.

Silver Liners' President Noreen and her team had taken great pains to put together the celebrations and the turnout and participation of the guests was awesome. Thomas D'Costa and Cornelio Gomes managed the logistics and catering, while the scintillating decorative display at the venue was the creative work of Belinda Moniz.

Not only was the evening surcharged with excitement, but it left us wanting more! This one will surely go down in our memory banks as a chart-topper of fun!
