Faith drives his Art

Hailing from an artistic family, Alex Rodrigues was born gifted. Being an artist was never the plan, but he was always encouraged by his family in his artistic pursuits. He continued to paint, while graduating in Chemistry, and later, while doing corporate jobs, never letting his art take a backseat.

However, becoming an artist is not the conventional path that most talented people take. Rodrigues had concerns of his own. He says that for a creative person, it takes time to establish oneself in the art world, and create a space among thousands of peers. When he got into art full time after quitting his job, he faced many problems that artists have been known to go through. The most trying of them were phases of a lull in the market, leading to low sales. He says that there were three things that helped him make it through this trying time — his faith in God, family support and his passion for work.

Today, he is an established artist who has exhibited his creations all over the world. Internationally, he has had his art exhibited in London, Greece, Australia and Dubai, among other cities, and back home, he has had a steady presence on the art scene, especially in Mumbai and Goa. He has also conducted several workshops, mostly for large groups of underprivileged children, and live demonstrations at art festivals. Details of his works, exhibitions and workshops can be found on his website www.alex-rodrigues.com.
