Quo Vadis? (Where are you going?) is a question youth often ask themselves, especially in times of difficulties. Knowing what youth go through and to guide them on the right path, the Diocesan Youth Centre (DYC), Bandra, in this Year of the Youth, organised a three-day Lenten Mission at five different venues (Thane, Irmitri-Dongri, Borivli, Vile Parle and Colaba) over March-April 2019.

Youth from different parishes started gathering at each venue on Day 1, from 6:30 p.m. onwards. Bishop Barthol, a true motivator of the youth, welcomed all gathered in his sincere and soft-spoken manner. The Lenten Mission started with praise and worship, led by the youth wing of the Prayer Group of OL of Immaculate Conception Church, Borivli. It was a pleasant way to welcome the youth and get them motivated for the Mission. The youth were happy to sing along; a few even had their feet tapping to the music. After the Praise and Worship, Deacon Ivan Fernandes explained the difference between a Christian and a disciple; the word 'Christian' appears only three times in the Bible, whereas the word 'disciple' is mentioned 269 times! As he concluded his session, we understood that we are called to be disciples of Jesus, and that we need to take up our cross and follow Him. We then had an Adoration Service—a wonderful moment to feel the presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Ankita Bhandari of Our Lady of the Sea Church, Uttan said, "The peaceful environment in the presence of God helped me find my answers," while Sanjana from St Andrew's Church, Pali found it "spiritually enlightening".
