Parrikar - a politician with a difference

Sir, The passing away of Goa's Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Parrikar, has left a void in Goa's politics which will be difficult to fill. There are no words apparently to describe the greatness of Parrikar, who, as President Kovind has rightly described as the "epitome of integrity and dedication in public life"— a great asset to Goa, and to the nation, in his capacity as erstwhile Defence Minister. He shared a very cordial relationship with the Church in Goa, and it is because of him that Church-run primary English schools in Goa continue to get government grants, which is being opposed tooth and nail by the vernacular lobby even today.

TOA has made a new ME

Sir, Before I pen down my TOA learnings, a quote by Brian Herbert strikes a chord with me. It is as follows: "The capacity to learn is a gift; the ability to learn is a skill; the willingness to learn is a choice." For me, this quote is highly profound. There is no end to learning.

I have attended various trainings during my corporate days. I rejoined my Small Christian Community after a break, and had completed a year, and was looking forward to training programmes at the diocesan level, as I knew it would benefit me a lot. My interest and willingness to enrol for the Training of Animators course (TOA, as it's commonly called) was one of the right choices that I made. It educates you on SCCs in depth.

Taking the Lord

As I walk in this valley called life
The darkness prevails around me
Mysterious figures come to scare
And try to catch me in a snare.
Million thoughts race through my mind
As shivers running down my spine
Looking at the deep abyss ahead
